Elementary School (Grade 1 - 5)
Boys and girls attend the girls section for elementary school Grades 1 to 3. In Grades 4 and 5 boys and girls are separated into our boys’ and girls’ sections within the elementary school.
In the boys’ and girls’ sections we offer the full spectrum of core subjects which includes English, math, science, history, geography, physical education and art based on the American Common Core State Standards. We also offer a rigorous Arabic language and Islamic studies program based on the Ministry of Education curriculum. Beyond the classroom students are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular events and field trips.
Literacy in English and Arabic and numeracy skills are a key focus for our elementary children during the school day with parents expected to reinforce such skills at home through our regular reading and maths homework. At school students are exposed to the latest educational practices based on current research from around the world that focuses on the development of the whole child through a wide-range of innovative teaching practices and activities. In elementary grades student development is nurtured by highly trained, caring and passionate teachers and support staff. Our teachers have a wide-range of teaching tools to enhance the learning for each student. For example, at RAIS we use ‘Measure of Academic Progress’ (MAP) testing to monitor progress in reading, writing and numeracy to ensure that instruction is adapted for each child.
