Middle School (Grade 6 - 8)
In Grades 6 to 8 boys and girls are separated into our boys’ and girls’ sections within the middle school.
The RAIS middle grades curriculum is relevant, integrative and challenging. It is based on the best international standards that will prepare our students for high school and the American Diploma Program. In the boys’ and girls’ sections we offer the full spectrum of core subjects which includes English, Math’s, Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Education and Art based on the U.S. Common Core State Standards. We also offer a rigorous Arabic language and Islamic studies program based on the Ministry of Education curriculum. Beyond the classroom students are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular events and field trips.
In middle school grades we focus on extending literacy in English and Arabic and numeracy skills during the school day to prepare students for high school grades. Parents are also expected to reinforce such skills at home through our regular literacy and math homework. At school students are exposed to the latest educational practices based on current research from around the world that focuses on the development of the whole child through a wide-range of innovative teaching practices and activities. In middle school grades student development is nurtured by highly trained, caring and passionate teachers and support staff. Our teachers have a wide-range of teaching tools to enhance the learning for each student. For example, at RAIS we use ‘Measure of Academic Progress’ (MAP) testing to monitor progress in reading, writing and numeracy to ensure that instruction is adapted for each child.
